So here it is, the i-D magazine brief, the chosen one! It requires me to produce 3 photographs of an existing subculture.

The Challenge:
Capture the essence and energy of a subculture in a series of three images. They should work as standalone images AND together as a group.

Now to me these ideas about subculture have come very easily. Even two of my classmates and my lecturer said they think of my main interests as being subcultures, and I can see why (I'm heavily involved in BMX and drifting).

These are the two subcultures that immediately spring to mind when I think about this brief. I have access to them both on a regular basis, and as a photographer I have something to offer these subcultures in return for access to them. Something I've learned from being involved in these subcultures is that they don't often like outsiders with prying eyes.
