Overall this year I have constantly struggled to stay focused. With distractions left right and centre and not giving myself enough time to complete projects, let alone work on freelance projects too it has been a bit of a tough one.
In hindsight I would tell any future students not to have a job outside of Uni, or if you really have to make sure it isn't 30hrs p/w. It's not sustainable, and although it feels great to have the money to do whatever you want, your standard of creative work output will drop; unless of course you're working in the field of work you're also studying in.
I'm very happy with my second project this year in which i created a set of images for i.D magazine. From doing the shoots for that I met a lot of people, a few who I'm now very good friends with and others whom are useful contacts for future work. That project as a whole showed me that if I'm motivated and I like the subjects I'm working with I will achieve anything I want to regardless of the stresses or risk. I feel in a lot of ways that it's the most valuable thing I've taken away from completing this year of University. I clearly love working with a camera and should pursue that alongside design work.
Last of all - A massive thanks to George who has put up with me over my 5 years at Lewes telling me not to back down whenever I've felt like giving up on my work. Also to Shirley for helping me out with my dissertation on numerous occasions. And to Andrew for the amusing conversations and unrivalled knowledge you've shared - if only I could know everything you do!

Career Pathways
The next step now is to get a job. I'm planning on applying for A LOT of jobs this summer. If I land something really serious then I'm staying here in the UK, but if not I will be going to France to complete a winter season working in the Alps. Cannot wait. After going over there twice already this year to be an events photographer I know I have the potential to be able to work out there for 6 months doing just that.
Since beginning uni I've done a couple of internships and worked for a few companies as a freelancer. I really liked working for Bite in London but felt the commute really drained me day in day out and i couldn't wait for the weekend. I also felt that being chucked in the deep end straight away didn't help my confidence one bit. I also worked for Kineo in Brighton who are a lot closer. The work I did for them wasn't quite as fun as it was at Bite but it was well paid. I think I'd like to have another go at working for Kineo. Thankfully I've stayed in contact with Adrian Day who was my key contact when I worked their last year. Hopefully I can sort something out there!
In terms of photography work I'd like to carry on doing it freelance. It's something I never want to give up and I find every time I pick up a camera I find out something new about using it. If I can somehow worm my way into being a second shooter for an already established professional I hope I can get more permanent work.

Finished Portfolio: Video
Im pleased with how my site has turned out. I've decided to use most of the space to promote my photography work with some of my graphic work mixed in too. I think having the welcome section, portfolio and then contact system in that order works effectively.
First Section: WELCOME
Completed my first section with a photograph of something close to my heart; Motor racing.
I am really happy to have made a minimalistic beginning to the site. It's something that is a feature throughout a lot of my work. The only feature I'm not that happy with is the fact the photograph is F1 car in the photo is off centre. If I have time I will be centralising it.
Site mk2
A few more changes to be made, mainly to the part showing my work off as I feel its isn't quite a clean as I could get it to look. If I can work it out the footer needs to be got rid off too. See screen video below:
Portfolio Start
Im using WIX as to design my website portfolio. So far I'm enjoying the experience and have found a template that I really like! Here is a screen video of it in its original form:
I have always liked the single page design and the middle section allows for me to show up projects and the bottom section for contact. Perfect! I'm going to use the first section to show one of my most recent and successful photographs. This will be updated weekly!
